“Invictus”

“Invictus”

Release Date: December 11, 2009

Director Clint Eastwood with yet another box office success with the film “Invictus.” Starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman, this film tells the incredible true story about Nelson Mandela forming a partnership with the captain of South Africa’s rugby team, Francois Pienaar in order to save their country from destruction. Mandela has a major task at hand in trying to save his country due to the nation being divided among many aspects, including extreme poverty and very high crime rates. With South Africa hosting the 1995 Rugby World Cup, Mandela believes that if South Africa is able to win it all, then South Africa will be able to become one again.

Sports have a major impact on our culture, even if some people tend to not believe that saying. Just watch “Invictus” and you can receive a really good grasp of what Rugby was able to accomplish within the country of South Africa. Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman give stellar performances, the story is so inspirational, and one of better directors around, Clint Eastwood, adds a special touch to the film as well that will truly have an impact on how this film is perceived from the audience.
