“Dark Shadows”

“Dark Shadows”

Release Date: May 11, 2012

Johnny Depp is teamed up with director Tim Burton for the 8th time now in their careers. Depp and Burton have made some classic movies together, but this will not be one of them. Depp and the supporting cast does an excellent job in the work that they do, and Depp is superb in his reactions from the new inventions that have been made in the time that he was out of commission for nearly two hundred years. Where this movie takes a major turn, is the plot. This movie is based on an old soap opera from the 60’s/70’s and I have never watched a single show, but if it is anything like this movie, I think I’ll pass in watching it. Basically a witch is obsessed and jealous that Depp’s character (Barnabas Collins) will not fall in love with her, so she curses a spell on Barnabas turning him into a vampire. Barnabas’s family became wealthy due to the fishing industry, and that plays a major part into the entire movie. The plot is lame, boring, and very conservative from director Tim Burton.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars.
