“Stand Up Guys”
Release Date: February 1, 2013
I am sure that most of us have seen some of Al Pacino’s and Christopher Walken’s greatest movies that they made throughout their careers. We mostly know these two actors as the tough type of guys whose characters will do anything that it takes to get the job done. Well in this film, we are witnessing how these guys live their lives when they are much older type of mobsters. Pacino’s character, Val, has just been released out of prison after serving his 28 year term. His best friend, and quite possibly his only friend left, Doc (Walken), greets Val at the gates of the prison. Val wants to go all out and party and do things that he has not been able to do for 28 years and it does not take long for Val to convince Doc to join him. Little does Val know that the local mob boss is wanting revenge on Val due to the fact that Val killed his only son.
This movie has a little bit of everything mixed in together. There are multiple scenes that will have you chuckle for a bit and then all of a sudden you are right in the middle of an action scene. You just have to appreciate the cast that is in this film as the main three actors are all legends to the big screen and the supporting cast does a great job implementing their abilities as well. This is not a movie that will be talked about that much, but it is definitely one that everyone should check out at least once.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
