“Iron Man 3”

“Iron Man 3”

Release Date: May 3, 2013

In the 3rd installment of the “Iron Man” franchise, Tony Stark (Downey Jr.) is still feeling the effects from what happened in New York during “The Avengers.” With Tony not being able to keep his mind off of the events that occurred in New York, he spends restless amounts of nights working on numerous new Iron Man suits. With Tony going through some tough times in his life, the terrorist known as The Mandarin continues to bomb specific locations all across the globe, but when one of those bombs hits too close to home for Tony, Tony calls out The Mandarin to tell him he will be waiting for him at his home. To make matters worse, one of Tony’s nemeses since meeting with Stark at a New Year’s Eve party back in 1999, Aldrich Killian found of the Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), also shows up in the picture. The thing with Killian though, Tony being his usual egocentric type of guy, does not really remember Killian. Will Tony be able to overcome his biggest obstacles yet?
While some people have said that this is the best “Iron Man” yet, I would have to disagree, as the first one is still my favorite of the three, but this is still a great movie to watch. Everything that was in the first two films and even in “The Avengers,” including the one liners that will have you smirking or even slapping your knee from the laughter, the intense action and dramatic scenes that Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow excel at. As for the rest of the cast, I thought that this film provides a fantastic cast. Don Cheadle plays an excellent Colonel James Rhodes and has great chemistry with Downey Jr., which makes their scenes together that much more entertaining and you not going to find many actors that can play such diverse roles and bad guys as in Guy Pierce and Ben Kingsley. Rebecca Hall does a good job with the little screen time that she has and who can forget about Jon Favreau playing as Happy Hogan. Happy does his best Vincent Vega impersonation (John Travolta in “Pulp Fiction”) to start off the film. And there are also numerous references to other films as well as connections to some scenes that occur in the comics.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
