Release Date: December 20, 2013
For the second consecutive year, director David O. Russell has hit a GRAND SLAM! As we travel back to the seventies, the stylish fashions, wicked hairdos and of course the music, all play a key part to what Russell wanted to portray in this film. Christian Bale and Amy Adams absolutely steal the spotlight away from the rest of the extraordinary cast. Personally, I thought Adams was more deserving of winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Sydney Prosser. With “American Hustle,” however, being a much more entertaining film than “Blue Jasmine,” of course I would lean towards giving the award to Adams.
If you are a fan of films about con artists, a really compelling storyline, or even watching some of the top notch actors join forces on the big screen, then this movie should be right up your ally. The runtime is over two hours in length, but the time will fly by while watching. We will have to wait and see if the cast of Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel and James Marsden will be able to give David O. Russell back-back-back instant hits in 2014.
