“Boyhood”

“Boyhood”

Release Date: August 15, 2014

This film was shot over a twelve year span, using the same actors, and you are able to watch every single one of the actors grow up right in front of your eyes over the near three hour runtime for the movie. I find this concept of making a movie fascinating as instead of seeing a particular actor age over the span of decades in different films about different genres, you get to see the same actor grow and evolve during the same exact storyline. This has an eerie feeling of following your favorite television show for its entire length as well.

Now for the story, not a whole lot of excitement to be seen and be very dull at times. Everyone can relate to something that Mason went through while growing up, so bringing back some of those memories while watching can be a little like nostalgia or could bring back memories that you tried to repress. Cut an hour off the movie and this one would be worth re-watching for me. Sit through another three hours of this? I do not think so.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.
